Oh boy, it is going to be a hot one. Five, count em, FIVE major revelations next week. Of course, at least two of them were revealed in the promo, which isn't very smart marketing; see if you can find them for yourself in this DIVX encoded preview of LOST S02E17.

LOST s02E17 Lock Down

MovieSexy - DivX Web Player.

Lots of Silver Jews Linkage

Off to Philly in a few hours for the second and final leg of Joos Cruise 2K6. I just programmed an 83-song, 4.6 hour playlist that will hopefully cover all the driving. Hoping to avoid bad roads and bad snow. It's spring, it shouldn't be snowing anymore. We'll be meeting up with hot shot label exec DP. Speaking of, you should check out the new record from Adam Arcuragi. It came out last Tuesday and it's damn good stuff, in the Mark Kozolek, early My Morning Jacket, Songs: Ohia vein.

Anyway, let's do a quick roundup of Joos related stuff. First off, we have some short video clips courtesy of BI from the 3/17 show. I'm not sure why the sound on her's was so clear while mine sounded like one of the less accessible Whitehouse albums, but whatever.

First up is a short clip from "Smith and Jones Forever" which shows a few things: 1) how that chorus really does rock when they play it live, and 2) the enthusiasm of the crowd, with arms waving in the air and heads bouncing up and down.

Next we have a clip from "The Poor, The Fair and The Good" which proves that my memory is better than I give it credit for as it indeed shows DCB necking -- or at least nuzzling -- Cassie as she attempts to sing.

And finally we have the scandalous "hat stealing incident" after the unprecedented second encore of "There Is A Place." Some dude jumps on stage, takes the hat and jumps on stage. Cassie sees it and jumps into action. DCB sees it and stands there watching Cassie take action while shrugging and doing not much.

A few more takes on the New York shows.
Here, here and here. There are probably more but, y'know, you can use search engines as well as I can. But those MySpace and LiveJournal ones are about what you'd expect.

Lots of Flickr albums from that show, too. Here, here, here and here.

A couple of pictures from the Charlottesville show. One and another.

Lots of albums from the 3/17 show. Was anyone at the 3/18 one? Well, the New York Times was.

Here, here, here, here and here.

Report from Boston. The Globe didn't like it.

Here's a set of pics from the Asheville show on the 3/12.

Pictures from Atlanta. Words from Atlanta.

Pictures from Athens. And more.

See, there's no need for me to take pictures. People have it plenty under control.

Still haven't been able to track down a complete, accurate setlist for the Cat's Cradle show on the 14th. Can anyone help with that? Feel free to post anything particularly interesting in the comments or e-mail it. Next report here could be anytime from early Wednesday a.m. to sometime on Friday.

--DM--

DIY Bottle Cap Tripod

It seems the do-it-yourself bottle cap tripod is the talk of the internet today. Jake Ludington of Jake Ludington’s MediaBlab, has created a step-by-step instruction set for creating a digital camera tripod from a Pepsi bottle. He got the idea from the Japanese retail version of the same product.

There is an article on Make that was inspired by this project as well call “HOW TO - Mounting a camera to your bike” which is pretty cool as well.

Funny how these ideas start feeding from one project to the next.
hrmmm… bicycle shopping cart tasticness!

Video of New Buddha Ram Bomjon Here

Earlier this morning, I reported that Ram Bomjon, the teenager from Nepal who is supposed to have proved his merit as a new Buddha or great enlightened teacher by sitting under a pipal tree for ten months straight without moving, eating, or drinking has been found by his followers, after he suddenly went missing earlier earlier this month. (Why didn’t Mary Grace on CNN do some special outraged coverage of this missing teenager?)

Well, here’s a video of Ram Bomjon’s appearance to his followers. Isn’t it interesting how, while “searching” for Ram Bomjon out in the woods, his followers just happened to be carrying a video camera? I know that every time I go out searching for a missing teenager, I make sure to bring at least two camcorders along [sarcasm, sarcasm].

It seems that Ram Bomjon appeared only to announce to his followers to say that he would be gone for the next six years, in a secret place one could reach by five days and five nights of walking. Like all good hoaxsters, Ram Bomjon and his inner circle of followers know better than to let their illusion appear long enough to be closely examined. Note also in this video the clever use of Ram Bomjon’s long hair - as it was used during almost the entire time Ram Bomjon was purported to be meditating under the tree. Can you really tell who that boy is? Do we know for sure it’s the same Ram Bomjon all the time, or could it be more than one boy, switching the role back and forth? Only the wig knows.

Ram Bomjon was, though, good enough to tell his followers that they should set up a new camp on the spot where he appeared to them, for pilgrims and worshippers to come to… and make donations… and buy souvenirs. The Buddha did that too, right?
