How To Delete Whatsapp Chats?

Deleting WhatsApp chats can be a useful way to declutter your chat history and free up space on your device. Whether you’re looking to clear an individual chat or a group chat, the process is straightforward. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to delete WhatsApp chats with ease.

Clearing Individual Chats

If you want to clear an individual chat on WhatsApp, start by opening the Chats tab on the app. Then, locate the chat you wish to delete and tap on it to open the conversation. Once inside the chat, look for the menu option (usually represented by three dots) at the top right corner of the screen.

Click on the menu icon to reveal a list of actions you can take within the chat. From this menu, select the “More” option, which will display additional settings for that specific chat. Within the “More” menu, you should see the “Clear chat” option. Tap on this to proceed with deleting the chat.

Clearing Group Chats

To clear a group chat on WhatsApp, follow a similar process to clearing an individual chat. Navigate to the Chats tab within the app and find the group chat you want to delete. Once you’re in the group chat, locate the menu icon at the top right corner and tap on it to access the additional settings.

Within the group chat settings, you’ll find the “Clear chat” option. Select this option to initiate the process of deleting the entire chat history for that specific group. Be aware that once you clear a group chat, all messages and media within that chat will be permanently removed.

Deleting Media

When you clear a chat on WhatsApp, you have the option to also delete the media files exchanged within that chat from your device gallery. This can be useful if you want to free up storage space on your phone by removing unnecessary photos, videos, and audio files that were shared in the chat.

During the process of clearing a chat, you will be prompted to choose whether you want to delete the media as well. Simply check or uncheck the box next to “Also delete media received in chats from the device gallery” based on your preference. Once you’ve made your selection, tap on “Clear chat” to finalize the deletion process.
