Turning on AirPlay on your MacBook allows you to seamlessly stream content from your other Apple devices to your computer. Follow these simple steps to set up your Mac as an AirPlay receiver:
Step 1: Open System Preferences
Start by clicking on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and selecting “System Preferences.”
Step 2: Navigate to General Settings
Within the System Preferences window, locate and click on the “General” option in the sidebar to access general settings for your Mac.
Step 3: Access AirDrop & Handoff
Once in the General settings, click on the “AirDrop & Handoff” option on the right side of the window. This is where you’ll configure AirPlay settings.
Step 4: Enable AirPlay Receiver
In the AirDrop & Handoff settings, look for the option to turn on AirPlay Receiver. Toggle the switch to enable this feature on your MacBook.
Step 5: Allow AirPlay Access
Next, click on the drop-down menu labeled “Allow AirPlay for” and choose the devices that you want to grant access to use AirPlay to stream content to your Mac.
Step 6: Confirm Settings
Ensure that all the settings are correctly configured according to your preferences before proceeding. Double-check the devices allowed to use AirPlay.
Step 7: Verify Connectivity
Make sure that your MacBook is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the devices from which you intend to stream content via AirPlay.
Step 8: Initiate AirPlay
Once everything is set up, open the content you wish to stream on your Apple device and look for the AirPlay icon. Click on it and select your MacBook as the destination for playback.
Step 9: Start Streaming
After selecting your MacBook as the AirPlay receiver, the content should start streaming on your computer. Enjoy your favorite movies, music, or presentations on a larger screen.
Step 10: Adjust Playback Settings
You can adjust playback settings, such as volume and display options, directly on your MacBook while streaming content via AirPlay to enhance your viewing experience.
Step 11: End AirPlay Session
When you’re done streaming, simply stop the playback on your Apple device, and the AirPlay session to your MacBook will automatically end. You can also manually disconnect by selecting a different playback destination.
Step 12: Repeat or Disable
Repeat these steps whenever you want to use AirPlay on your MacBook or disable the feature by going back to System Preferences and turning off the AirPlay Receiver option.
