If you find yourself accessing Gmail frequently throughout the day, you might want to have quick access to it directly from your desktop. Adding a Gmail icon to your desktop can streamline your workflow and make accessing your emails more convenient. Luckily, it’s a relatively simple process that can be done in just a few steps.
Step 1: Sign Into Your Gmail Account
Begin by opening the Chrome browser on your desktop and signing into your Gmail account. This ensures that you have access to all your emails and settings while setting up the shortcut.
Step 2: Creating the Shortcut
Once you are logged into your Gmail account, click on the three dots menu located in the top right corner of your browser window. This will open a dropdown menu with various options.
Step 3: Accessing More Tools
From the dropdown menu, select the “More tools” option. This will expand the menu further to reveal additional tools and features that you can access within Chrome.
Step 4: Click on “Create Shortcut”
Within the “More tools” menu, locate and click on the “Create shortcut” option. This action will prompt Chrome to create a shortcut for the website you are currently on, which in this case, is Gmail.
Step 5: Naming Your Shortcut
After clicking on “Create shortcut,” a pop-up window will appear asking you to name your shortcut. Choose a name that you will easily recognize, such as “Gmail,” and then click on the “Create” button.
Step 6: Shortcut Created
Once you have named your shortcut, Chrome will automatically create an icon on your desktop for quick access to Gmail. You can now double-click on this icon to open Gmail directly from your desktop without having to open the browser first.
